Engagement Project Overview

Engagement Project Overview

The Engagement project is a collaborative program between Community Partnerships and the Madison Metropolitan School District, and currently operates at James Madison Memorial High School.

The Engagement Project is designed to support students with emotional and behavioral difficulties with successfully transitioning from middle school to high school.  Emotional and behavioral difficulties can create a barrier to learning due to problems with attention, concentration, memory, energy, motivation, thinking skills, and social relationships.  The Engagement Project aims to address these barriers to learning and to help each student develop positive school relationships.

We believe there is a strong link between school engagement, school success, and school completion.  We work to build bridges from middle school to high school, address family needs and concerns, and support students in forming relationships--all to promote empowerment, skill building, and positive school engagement.

The main components of the Engagement Project are:

  1. Support transitioning to high school
  2. Preventive monitoring
  3. Early intervention
  4. Family support and involvement
  5. In-school relationships
  6. Staff education
  7. Data collection

If you have a student you would like to get involved with the Engagement Project, please contact their school guidance counselor/student services staff, or you can contact Robin Gray, Community Engagement Coordinator, at robin.gray@commpart.org or (608) 215-9427.

Funding for the Engagement Project is provided by United Way of Dane County.
